The Happy range

Saffron has long been known as the world’s most precious spice. Its rarity lies in the painstaking way it must be grown and harvested: each crocus flower produces only three delicate red stigmas, which must be hand-picked at dawn during the short autumn flowering season. It takes thousands of flowers — and a great deal of space — to produce just a small quantity, making saffron both labour-intensive and space-hungry to cultivate. The soil must be well-drained and continued wet weather will harm the corms, so in Wales we must grow them in polytunnels. This rarity and effort are what give saffron its unique status, and why its colour, flavour, and wellbeing benefits are so prized.

As far as we are aware, we are the only tea growers and makers in the UK to grow the saffron we include in our blends.

That’s also why we can’t grow all the saffron we sell — a single polytunnel is too small for such a space-hungry spice. Instead, we include a few homegrown strands in every blend, supplemented with carefully sourced saffron from partners who share our high standards.

Happy and Balance blend

Whole lemon verbena leaves, grown in our Welsh polytunnel and paired with wild nettle, create a bright infusion with natural citrus notes. We add a touch of saffron — partly from the soil we cultivate in the Cambrian hills, complemented with carefully sourced strands — to bring both colour and wellbeing. Saffron is known to support serotonin levels, helping to lift mood and ease symptoms of low spirits and depression. A naturally soothing yet uplifting cup, crafted with care.

Happy and Calm blend

Homegrown whole chamomile flowers meet Cambrian wild nettle in this gentle infusion, finished with a touch of saffron. Chamomile is cherished for promoting relaxation and restful sleep, while saffron has been shown to ease anxiety and support emotional wellbeing. Together they create a soothing cup that helps quiet the body and lift the mood at the same time.

Happy and Refresh blend

Three vibrant mints — spearmint, peppermint, and apple mint — combine with wild nettle and a delicate thread of saffron for a bright, invigorating infusion. Mint aids digestion and clears the palate, while saffron is celebrated for boosting energy, focus, and a positive outlook by supporting healthy serotonin levels. A cooling, uplifting blend that refreshes both body and mind.

Happy Earl Grey (with Saffron)

A classic Earl Grey begins with fine black tea leaves infused with the natural oil of bergamot — a citrus fruit prized for its fragrant rind, belonging to the bitter orange family and grown mainly in southern Italy. The result is a distinctive, aromatic cup with bright citrus top notes. To this timeless favourite we add a delicate thread of saffron, partly from our Welsh smallholding and complemented with carefully sourced strands. Saffron not only deepens the flavour with subtle floral warmth, it also brings proven health benefits, from supporting healthy serotonin levels and lifting mood to easing symptoms of low energy and stress. A refined blend that takes an old favourite to new heights.

Happy Morning

A bright and balanced start to the day. This uplifting blend brings together rich black tea with the citrusy freshness of lemon verbena and a delicate thread of saffron. The result is a well-rounded cup: brisk and full-bodied from the tea, softened by the herb’s gentle lemon notes, and deepened by saffron’s subtle floral warmth. Together they create a harmonious infusion that sharpens focus, steadies mood, and awakens the senses without harshness — a smooth, golden-hued morning companion.
